Kirsty and Damian’s wedding was a celebration of love, family, and the beauty of going with the flow. Nestled in the heart of Nottinghamshire at the stunning Thoresby Riding Hall, their wedding was a testament to their desire for a rustic, relaxed atmosphere with no pressure of timings for themselves or their guests. The day was filled with laughter, delicious food, and the charm of an unforgettable venue.

Falling in Love with Thoresby Riding Hall

The love story between Kirsty, Damian, and Thoresby Riding Hall began on a family day out. The couple felt an instant connection to the venue’s relaxed vibes and stunning grounds. It was no surprise that when Damian popped the question the day after their visit, they both knew exactly where they wanted to tie the knot. Other venues couldn’t compete; Thoresby Riding Hall was the one.

The grounds at Thoresby Riding Hall are incredibly beautiful to celebrate your day, even in the rain.

The park is home to various stunning buildings, including the Victorian Riding Hall, which is the perfect setting for a wedding ceremony or reception. The Riding Hall is a large, airy space with a soaring ceiling and exposed brickwork. It can accommodate up to 180 guests for a seated dinner and up to 200 for a drinks reception.

A Love Story Brewed Over Tea

Damian’s affection for Kirsty blossomed in the most unexpected of places – over a cup of tea at Nero. As he watched her spoon six sugars into her cup, chatting merrily without drinking any of it, he knew she was the one. This charming anecdote set the tone for their relationship, which would grow stronger over the years, even through the challenges of long-distance while Kirsty was at university.

Building a Life Together

After over four years of dating, Kirsty and Damian finally moved in together. Shortly after, they received the joyous news of expecting their first daughter, India. This exciting new chapter in their lives made buying a house their top priority. Fast forward to today, they now have a beautiful home and two lovely daughters, India and Amelie, who played an adorable role in their wedding as flower girls.

A Thoresby Riding Hall Wedding Day Without Pressure

Kirsty and Damian wanted their wedding day to be as relaxed as possible, without the rigid structure often associated with weddings. Thoresby Riding Hall made this possible, they hired a Pizza Van for dinner and a Gyro Van for supper, giving each guest a ticket to get food whenever they felt hungry. This thoughtful touch allowed everyone to enjoy their wedding day at their own pace, enhancing the laid-back vibe the couple envisioned.

Weathering the Storm with Grace, dealing with rain on your wedding day.

Despite the day starting wet, the weather seemed to sympathise with the significance of the moment...The rain miraculously paused as Kirsty and her dad arrived at the church, only to start again once everyone was safely inside. It stopped once more just in time for confetti and family photos, almost as if the weather had scheduled itself around their special moments.

Kirsty and Damian's chilled mindset of the day meant that they went with the flow, they trusted my judgement when it came to their bridal party photos, taking shelter under the stunning arched entrance the courtyard offers at Throseby Riding Hall, which meant they stayed dry and it was just me who got wet.

I always tell my couples I'm happy to get wet on their day, it doesn't matter what I look like as long as they're happy with me appearing like a drowned rat. Haha

Generally, even the UK tends to offer breaks in the weather during the day, so when the rain stopped after their first dance, I did a scout of the grounds and took Kirsty and Damian for their stunning portraits later in the day.

We'd already got plenty, I just thought we best make the most of the stunning grounds Thoresby Hall offers up.

The unpredictable weather added to the charm of the day, culminating in an ethereal mist that blanketed the grounds during their last photo session. The atmospheric mist added a magical touch to these photos, perfectly capturing the essence of their rustic, relaxed wedding.
