Laura & Dan’s Burnt Orange Autumnal Wedding at Thief Hall

A Day of Fun, Family, and Thoughtful Touches 🍁

I recently had the pleasure of photographing Laura and Dan’s stunning October wedding at Thief Hall near Thirsk, where their beautiful burnt orange autumnal theme blended seamlessly with the gorgeous surroundings. From the moment they set foot in Thief Hall, Laura and Dan knew it was the one.

They fell in love with the panoramic views, the well-thought-out layout, and the warm, friendly team that runs this family-owned venue. The venue’s attention to detail perfectly matched Laura’s organized nature, making it easy for them to envision the day they wanted.

Laura and Dan had clear priorities for their photos: a relaxed, fun vibe that would capture the day just as they experienced it, alongside plenty of time to take in the beautiful fields around the venue. Both laid-back and outgoing, they wanted their day to feel like a big celebration with their loved ones. After getting engaged at the Pilot Festival while Laura’s favourite band was headlining, they knew their wedding needed to capture that same level of joy and festivity.

One unique approach that worked wonderfully was getting family photos taken before the ceremony. By gathering loved ones early, they had a relaxed session with all the combinations they wanted without feeling rushed.

This meant they could soak up every other moment of the day without formalities lingering in the back of their minds. They enjoyed every moment of cocktail hour with their guests with just a snippet of time to do their portraits together and with their wedding party as a couple.

Speeches at Thief Hall

Laura and Dan opted for a twist on the traditional confetti shower for their grand entrance to the reception after their ceremony—they chose a bubble tunnel! Guests lined up, creating a sparkling tunnel of bubbles for the couple to walk through. The effect was magical, with light-catching reflections and smiles all around.

As evening fell, the reception was packed with crowd-pleasers. Guests were treated to popcorn, candy floss, and a doughnut wall, perfect for anyone with a sweet tooth. An audio guestbook allowed everyone to leave heartfelt (and often humorous) messages for the newlyweds, adding to the memories they’d cherish. And the night wouldn’t be complete without karaoke! Friends and family belted out tunes, bringing laughter, joy, and some unforgettable moments.

Laura and Dan’s wedding perfectly balanced thoughtful organization with spontaneous joy, creating an unforgettable day that was truly them. Every detail added to the authenticity and warmth of their celebration, and I loved capturing every moment.
