1. A Rustic Fairytale Drea,m, The Normans Wedding Venue, York
An 18th-century working farm that has been lovingly reinvented by the younger generation, The Normans is full of rustic, fairytale charm. Coming from a farming background myself, I’m always inspired by what Olly and Laura have done here to generate extra income while keeping it in the family. The venue feels truly magical—imagine saying your vows in front of a fairy-lit wall. ✨
The Normans Wedding Venue is constantly evolving, each time I revisit, something else has happened. As you spend your day there, it feels like a tour through time with its five distinct areas: The Stables Bar, Ceremony Barn, Courtyard, Grain Shed, and Cow Stalls & Tack Room. It’s an all-weather venue, so no matter what the day brings, your wedding will be seamless. The Hog and Apple are incredible at what they do, you will not be disappointed by their delicious dishes. Through my lens, The Normans Wedding Venue looks magical, if you choose this as your venue, expect atmospheric low-light images when you're inside, where, as a photographer, you can get carried away with creativity.
The lighting, although low, is consistent and the courtyard offers endless spots for group photos and couple pics, meaning you don't have to go far for the perfect portraits. The benefits to the Normans being a working farm means you have full access to the surrounding fields too, giving a dynamic variety in your wedding gallery.

2. Deepdale Farm, A Rustic Wedding Venue, Keldholme
For couples looking for a more DIY approach, Deepdale Farm is perfect. This venue was born out of the owners’ desire to create a wedding space for themselves, and it’s evolved into a stunning, rustic DIY barn venue on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors. Deepdale gives you total creative freedom to design your wedding from the ground up, allowing you to bring in chosen suppliers for food, flowers, or decor, whatever your heart desires, really. Every wedding here feels entirely unique, with couples injecting their own personalities into the day. Kamillia and T had a vegan wedding because that's what they enjoy eating, they wanted everyone to experience how delicious vegan food could be, so they chose their caters to suit them, their needs and their greatest desires. There were no complaints by the way just lots of yum, scrum noises.
There are three weddings mingled up here. I love how different they are, and I 100% adore how good the contrast of rustic wood looks against the delicate flowers and elegant glassware, it just works.
From my point of view, the barns at Deepdale Farm have an abundance of natural light, giving consistency throughout your day, the two huge barns offer plenty of options should it rain when your photos need to be done and equally depending on the time of year, your portraits can take place with jaw-dropping views, cornfields and meadow grass.
